Old Scots Graveyard is a privately run cemetery owned and maintained by the Board of Directors of the Old Tennent Church.

Cemetery History

Old Scots Graveyard was the burying ground of the first Presbyterian church (meeting house) in North America, erected in 1692. Burials on this location began soon after.

In 1731, the congregation built a larger church building about 5 miles away in present-day Manalapan, and a new cemetery was formed there (see Old Tennent Cemetery).

The most recent burial was that of Kevin Defrietas in 2011.

Cemetery Records

    cemetery records

A free online library of cemetery records from thousands of cemeteries across the world, for historical and genealogy research.

    What makes us Different?

    Single-sourced, not crowd-sourced

Each transcription we publish comes from a single-source, be it the cemetery office, government office, church office, archived document, a tombstone transcriber. Other websites already do an excellent job of crowd-sourcing a single cemetery together. But genealogists also need to see the original records from a single source. That's what we offer.
