In Helmer take Hwy 8 west to the Little Boulder Creek Campground sign, turning left or south onto Park Road, continuing past the campground. Stay on Park Road until you are to the corner of Park Road and S Park Road. Go straight onto S Park Road and keep an eagle eye to the left. The cemetery is very soon.

Avon Cemetery was established in 1889. The first burials listed in this reading were two in the Parks family in 1889. This cemetery basically has two sides or sections, west and east, with the rows running north and south. I numbered the rows from the center out.

I was not able to find any history of this cemetery. It apparently began in the late 1800s, and is being well cared for now. Age and weather have taken their toll on many of the older stones causing many unmarked burial sites. I suspect the name comes from the road.

Entries followed by an asterisk were found in a previous reading done in 1979. I have read and transcribed all existing and legible markers.

I visited and read this cemetery on Jun 16, 2005, using a digital camera. I have a photo of all existing and legible markers or stones. I finished this transcription on Aug 25, 2005.
