Directions from Spencer: Take US33 3.1 miles, turn right onto Slate Run Rd. (CR40) 2.0 miles, turn left onto WV36 7.3 miles to 5665 Clay Rd. Park in drive and walk approx. 15yards up through meadow and pasture.

This small family cemetery is about ¼ acre in size, with no restrictions as to type and placing of markers. Lots are not marked, graves marked by monuments and field stones, Lots not for sale, burial records kept by S.R. Ferrell, Linden, WV, and the cemetery is still in use as burial ground for those who have purchased lots.

This cemetery was established in 1861 as family burial ground. The first known burial was in 1861. It was in great condition though it is hard to get to. New fencing, trees have been cleared out and is being maintained by the Jack Bradley family.

I walked this cemetery in Jun 2006 and Oct 2007. Info taken from pictures I took and compared with WPA reading of Aug 11, 1938.

What makes us Different?

Single-sourced, not crowd-sourced

Each transcription we publish comes from a single-source, be it the cemetery office, government office, church office, archived document, a tombstone transcriber. Other websites already do an excellent job of crowd-sourcing a single cemetery together. But genealogists also need to see the original records from a single source. That's what we offer.
