Driving Directions

Out of Cowansville, Quebec, take Route 202 to Dunham, and then follow the Selby Lake Road to the lake. David Westover and his wife, Abigail, farmed the land southeast of the lake in the area where Chemin Jordon, Chemin Hudson, and Chemin Selby Lake join.

Note: the exact location of this cemetery is kept private, to protect it from further damage.

Cemetery History

This tiny graveyard, surrounded by a wire fence, is located on private property that once was owned by David and Abigail, and most of the original family is buried there.

According to Joan Cruickshank, no tombstone was found for David Westover (1764-1830), husband of Abigail, or for Thomas McGee, husband of Mary (1794-1866), and their burials are not included in any previously recorded data that she could find, and as a result, she questions whether or not they are buried there with their spouses. Another two possible burials, although not recorded, could be that of Mary Maria Westover (1848-1857), and Ann Elizabeth Westover (1852-1857), children of Thomas S. and Rebecca. Three of their children died in the same year, but Joan was only able to find a record of one burial: that of Hannah.

This tiny graveyard is maintained by the Mississquoi Historical Society Cemetery Committee, Stanbridge East, Quebec.

    What makes us Different?

    Single-sourced, not crowd-sourced

Each transcription we publish comes from a single-source, be it the cemetery office, government office, church office, archived document, a tombstone transcriber. Other websites already do an excellent job of crowd-sourcing a single cemetery together. But genealogists also need to see the original records from a single source. That's what we offer.
