Graham-Mason Cemetery
Irene, Hill County, Texas

Lat: 31° 58' 00"N, Lon: 96° 51' 17"W

Contributed by Judy Graham, Jul 22, 2003 [judygaylegraham@hotmail.com]. Total records = 24.

1.4 miles SE of Irene, Texas on FM 1946, right 0.2 mi. on CR 3449, cemetery is down the second gravel road. To obtain a key to the gate, contact Margaret Buie in Hillsboro, Texas.

The cemetery has been restored with iron pipe fencing, broken tombstones have been repaired, a Texas Historical Marker and a Texas Historic Cemetery Medallion placed on the site.

After all this work was completed the Graham-Mason Cemetery Association was formed. The Association was deeded the property from the landowner in 2002. It is not currently accepting new burials.

I cannot be sure if I recorded all who are buried here. According to some family history, slaves and former slaves were buried in and around the site and there is at least one grave marked only with rocks.

These records come from the tombstones themselves, except for those listed with an asterisk *, which came from the 1949 writings of a descendant named Margaret Elizabeth Turner Ware. For the records from the tombstones themselves, I recorded this information in 1999.

    What makes us Different?

    Single-sourced, not crowd-sourced

Each transcription we publish comes from a single-source, be it the cemetery office, government office, church office, archived document, a tombstone transcriber. Other websites already do an excellent job of crowd-sourcing a single cemetery together. But genealogists also need to see the original records from a single source. That's what we offer.
