From the Route 18/Route 21 split in west Waynesburg, follow Route 21 West approximately 5 miles to the town of Rogersville. Before crossing the bridge in town, turn right on to Lightner Run and follow for 3.2 miles until it intersects with Hopewell Ridge Road. Turn right onto Hopewell Ridge Road and continue for another .4 miles. There will be a large gate on your right where you can park. The cemetery is just off the road through this gate in amongst several large hedge apple trees. Despite its close proximity to the road it will be difficult to see because all the stones but one are down.

There is a large brick house just up the road from the cemetery. The Pierce family lives here and they own the land and farm on which the cemetery sits. Please ask permission from the land owner before going to the cemetery. Many years ago this farm belonged to John Ely.

I must thank local residents Garrett Miller, Sue Miller and Dick Ely who each gave me insight as to where this cemetery might be located as I had little other information to go on.

The cemetery is in very poor condition and is not maintained. Most stones are still legible however. I also found one fieldstone marker.

I walked the cemetery on 04 Apr 2009. This transcription is complete and includes all existing stones. I also have digital photographs of all the stones as well as many views of the cemetery itself and would share them with anyone interested.

    What makes us Different?

    Single-sourced, not crowd-sourced

Each transcription we publish comes from a single-source, be it the cemetery office, government office, church office, archived document, a tombstone transcriber. Other websites already do an excellent job of crowd-sourcing a single cemetery together. But genealogists also need to see the original records from a single source. That's what we offer.
