On Jun 21, 1887 a group of prominent townsmen purchased
about 2 acres of land for a cemetery across the street from the church to be used as a burial site, from John M. Smith.
The non-profit corporation established at that time was called the Emmanuel Methodist Episcopal Cemetery Company of South
Penns Grove. In latter years this cemetery was basically abandoned. A group has now been formed to restore it. PO Box 161, Penns Grove, NJ 08069
