From Mahwah: Take Ramapo Valley Road (Route 202) south all the way through Mahwah into Oakland. The cemetery is on the west side of the road, south of Spruce St.

This cemetery is owned and operated by The Ponds Reformed Church, located slight north from the cemetery at 341 Ramapo Valley Road, Oakland, NJ 07436, (201) 337-6744. The cemetery which has burials dating back to 1780, is still being used today by church members, although there is not much room left.

I compared with an old transcription of the cemetery done in May 1909 by John Neafie and William. B. Van Alstyne, to read the stones that were no longer readable or the ones that had been set in cement by some well meaning person in the past. Unfortunately the person who set these stones in cement covered the lower portion of the inscriptions of some of these stones.

This is a compilation of my findings when I walked and read all existing markers in the cemetery in the Spring of 2003. I've been keeping up with the obituaries, so you may see some dates after the Spring of 2003.
