Yates Lewter Cemetery
White Oak Twp, Wake County, North Carolina

Lat: 35° 49' 08"N, Lon: 78° 55' 18"W

Contributed by Shirley Olson, Nov 09, 2004 [shirley32olson@yahoo.com]. Total records = 10.

From the intersection of Green Level Church Rd.(SR 1600) and Yates Store Rd.(SR 1716), in White Oak Twp., Wake Co., take Yates Store Rd. north for 9/10 mi., to Yates Store. Continue to the "Y" in the road and bear right, continuing on Yates Store Rd. There is currently a partial barrier due to construction on this road. Bypass the barrier and continue about 100 feet and keep a sharp look out for a logging trail on the left side of the road. There is a little stick barring this trail which can be skirted by automobile or on foot. You can drive in, carefully. About 1/10 mile down the logging trail, on the left side of the road about 100 feet into the woods is the cemetery.

There is extensive development under way all around the cemetery which is currently surrounded by pine forest. Unlike Batchelor Yates Cemetery, which is nearby, this cemetery is not shown on maps of Wake County nor is it maintained. It is an abandoned cemetery.

I transcribed it from tombstones on Nov 04, 2004.

What makes us Different?

Single-sourced, not crowd-sourced

Each transcription we publish comes from a single-source, be it the cemetery office, government office, church office, archived document, a tombstone transcriber. Other websites already do an excellent job of crowd-sourcing a single cemetery together. But genealogists also need to see the original records from a single source. That's what we offer.
