Richmond Cemetery
Richmond, Ray County, Missouri
Lat: 39° 16' 48"N, Lon: 93° 59' 12"W
To reach this cemetery, in Richmond, drive west on Main Street
to about 7 blocks west of Thornton Street. The cemetery is west
of the very small Shotwell Cemetery and east of the Sunny Slope
Cemetery, all of which are on the north side of Main Street.
This cemetery was established about 1875 and some say it was the
city cemetery. Older records and obituaries call it Richmond City
Cemetery, but at the present time it is not the city cemetery.
At one time this cemetery fell into disrepair with no one caring
for it. The Circuit Court set up the Richmond Cemetery Association
to care for this cemetery. The cemetery records were lost or destroyed
long years ago and they no longer can sell plots. They only inter
those who already have previously purchased deeds to plots. -
per Powers Alder, trustee for the cemetery association.
