From French Lick IN, turn onto Hwy 145 toward the French Lick Municipal
Airport. Turn right onto Airport Drive/County Road 375 South. Watch for
a yellow sign stating "Cane Creek Church". Follow Airport Drive, stay
to the right and it will turn into County Road 375 South. This County
Road will end at County Road 1000 West. Turn Left onto CR 1000 West and
go to County Road 400 S. Take CR 400 South to County Road 1175 West. Turn
Left onto CR 1175 West and you will see the church as soon as you turn.
This cemetery is owned and maintained by the Cane Creek Christian Church.
It is in excellent condition. It is obvious efforts are being made to
repair broken stones and raise the stones sinking into the soil.
Oldest visible stone I found in the cemetery belongs to Lathum Young
Sr., who was buried in 1844. It is an active cemetery still open for
new burials as governed by the church.
This is a complete transcription of all existing and legible stones
in the cemetery. It does not contain individuals buried in unmarked
graves. I videotaped and transcribed this cemetery Nov 8-9, 2003.
