On the main street through Ashton, Idaho, go through town, until you come to State Hyway 32, (the Ashton-Marysville Cemetery will be on the north side of the road) turn to the south (right). Follow this road for several gently curving miles, past very nice potato fields and wheat fields until you come to a road, 3900 East Road and 800 North. Turn south (right), go about 5 tenths of a mile. The hill with the cemetery on top will be on the east (left hand side) of the road.

This is a very old cemetery (first known grave in 1902) that was built top of a hill, overlooking the valley and the North Fork of the Teton river. It is located between the two small communities of Drummond and Farnum. Farnum was named after 1896 pioneer Rosamond Farnum Sprague Green, whose family homesteaded the area. Today, this cemetery is harder to get to, it is surrounded by large wheat fields and a fence. The cemetery is in bad shape and neglect. It is disintegrating back into the earth. It hasn't been used since 1964.

I have not been to the cemetery, I drove there, but didn't take the hike up the hill to see it. I got these records from Elinda Mitchell, whose father, over 75 years ago, was raised on a homestead at the base of the hill. These records are complete, as far as tombstones or markers that are evident. There are several spots where graves look like they might of been.

These records are completed as of the summer of 2004 by Elinda Mitchell.

What makes us Different?

Single-sourced, not crowd-sourced

Each transcription we publish comes from a single-source, be it the cemetery office, government office, church office, archived document, a tombstone transcriber. Other websites already do an excellent job of crowd-sourcing a single cemetery together. But genealogists also need to see the original records from a single source. That's what we offer.
