Mission San Luis Rey de Francia Cemetery
Oceanside, San Diego County, California

Compiled and contributed by Steve Paul Johnson [steve@cleardigitalmedia.com].  Recorded in the Fall of 1999.  Note that this listing only includes the burials within the confines of the original cemetery, including the infant section and the Franciscan Burial Crypt, .  It does not currently include the inurnments of the Columbarium Niches, nor the newly extended areas of the cemetery.  Total records = 218.

The Mission was founded June 13, 1798 by Father Fermin Francisco de Lasuen, and was the 18th of the 21 California Missions.  The cemetery was established in the same year, and to this date is the oldest operating cemetery in North San Diego County.  There are several unmarked graves here, most of which are probably indian burials.
