Wood Cemetery Records
Pike County, Arkansas

Lat: 34° 10' 02"N, Lon: 93° 30' 57"W

Contributed by Teresa Johnson, Sep 09, 2002 [jojo@cyberback.com].  Total records = 89.

This cemetery is in the Shawmut Community. From Murfreesboro, take Hwy. 27 North about 4 miles. At the Pike County Sanitation Landfill, turn right onto Shawmut Road. Go about 8 miles to the end of the road to the cemetery. This is a gravel road, but driving conditions are pretty good.

This cemetery is old, but well maintained. It has a sign, "2nd ?? in October, Cleaning". There is a fence around the cemetery, a gate with no lock.

I have no idea who maintains the cemetery. I was not able to find out who has records, or a history of the cemetery. My g-grandparents lived on Shawmut Road in the early 1900's. At the time the community was called Pike City.

Transcribed by Teresa Johnson & Faye Hodges , August, 2000.

What makes us Different?

Single-sourced, not crowd-sourced

Each transcription we publish comes from a single-source, be it the cemetery office, government office, church office, archived document, a tombstone transcriber. Other websites already do an excellent job of crowd-sourcing a single cemetery together. But genealogists also need to see the original records from a single source. That's what we offer.
