Exact location of Sugg Family Cemetery is not known. It's believed to be east of Russellville, about one mile north of State Highway 24, somewhere between County Roads 77 & 83. Our best research says it's recorded by the Franklin County Assessor as, "Byas Cemetery" (under parcel # 02 07 25 0 000 002.002 see parcel summary), which places it at, GPS 34.50978, -87.64470.

Cemetery Records

The transcription below was originally published in Alabama Genealogical Society Magazine, Volume 2, Number 2, April 1968. It was transcribed by Mrs. William Burgess Mahan. Mrs. Mahan describes the location as follows...

"Location: Leave Russellville at the corner of Jackson St. and Alabama Highway 24. Drive east on 24 to US Highway 43. Turn right (south) and go 1.1 mile. Turn left (east) and follow Alabama 24 for 4.5 miles; turn left (north) and go 1 mile; turn right (east) and go .4 mile; turn right thru a wire pasture fence gate and drive thru the pasture to the next fence row; turn left and follow to the cemetery. 9 marked graves. 7 stones badly broken, signs of about 25 graves."
