To find this cemetery, drive along the Atherton Herberton Road towards Herberton approximately 3km from the town of Atherton and the cemetery is located on the right within the confines of the Atherton Refuse Transfer Station.

Samuel Dansie Park was established and the earliest burial was in 1897 and apparently was used until 1927 when it was closed due to the wet conditions. There has been approximately 16 burials since this time 'under special circumstances.' The area became overgrown and neglected until volunteer Sam Dansie took a special interest, cleaned, restored and cataloged the contents of the cemetery in 1989, hence the renaming of the cemetery in his honour given that the modern cemetery, which is also known as the Atherton Cemetery.
