Background: Oregon Trail State Veterans Cemetery was established in 1983 as the first state-operated veterans cemetery in Wyoming. It was created through a partnership between the State of Wyoming and the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs. The cemetery takes its name from the Oregon Trail which runs nearby. The first interments occurred in 1983, and since then, the cemetery has become a focal point for veterans’ memorial events and ceremonies in the region.
