Directions: Located northwest of Harshaw, along the east side of Lakewood Rd., about 1,500 feet north of the intersection with Rocky Run Rd, adjacent to Union Grove Cemetery.

Background: Northwoods National Cemetery was established when the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs purchased six acres in northern Wisconsin in 2015 as part of its Rural Initiative. Construction began in 2017, and the cemetery’s official name, "Northwoods National Cemetery," was announced in 2019. The cemetery was formally dedicated on August 14, 2020, and opened for interments later that year. Designed to serve veterans within roughly a 75-mile radius of Rhinelander, the initial development phase provided more than 3,000 burial and cremation spaces.
