Directions: Located inside the southern portion of Yakima city limits, the cemetery sits along the east side of 24th Ave, about 1/2 mile north of Washington Ave.

Background: Tahoma Cemetery is the Yakima's oldest burial ground, believed to have been established around 1889 and named for nearby Mount Tahoma (another name for Mount Rainier, visible from the cemetery). It originated through the merging of several early cemeteries, including the City Cemetery and plots established by fraternal organizations such as the Masons, Oddfellows, and Grand Army of the Republic, and today is owned and operated by the City of Yakima, with records showing over 30,000 interments spanning from the late 1800s through the present.
