Directions: The cemetery is reached from the Old Naches Highway, by taking Galloway Road to Suntides Blvd. The entrance to the cemetery is located between two homes (210 & 220 Suntides Blvd) and is guarded by a locked gate reading "Nelson Pioneer Cemetery 1870-1913". It is recorded as Property ID# 181304-31005 by the Yakima County Assessor, and is owned by Yakima County Parks Department.

Background: This abandoned private cemetery used to be on the Donald Nelson homestead. The cemetery now lies adjacent to the landscaped area of the Suntides Golf Course, west of Yakima, Washington. The grassy area is well cared for and is occupied by several large blue spruce trees. The headstones are scattered around the edge of the grass and in most cases are surrounded by shrubs whose branches must be moved in order to read the inscriptions.
