Background: Wenas Cemetery was incorporated in 1880. The cemetery is the second oldest cemetery in Yakima County. It is approximately 7 acres in size. It was founded on land donated to the cemetery by George (Doc) and Elizabeth McGlothlen in 1880 and Lyle and Louise Schneider in 1989. The cemetery is owned and operated by the Wenas Cemetery Association. The earliest marked grave is 1881. There were burials at this cemetery prior to the incorporation and establishment of the cemetery and the cemetery association. However, the records do not indicate who was buried.
