Background: The Maud Cemetery was originally called the Stranger Creek Cemetery. The cemetery property of one acre belonged to Mary Winings and was sold to the Cemetery Association for $30 on 10 April 1911, and filed on 25 Jan 1915. A small settlement called Maud was located close by and the postmistress was Maud Morgan. This evidently is where the name came from.
