Directions: Located in the western portion of Spokane city limits, on the west bank of Spokane River, the cemetery lies on the east side of Government Way (the west side is Greenwood Memorial Terrace).

Background: Riverside Memorial Park began as a municipal recreational park opened in 1907, but in November 1914 the land was formally dedicated as a burial ground called Riverside Park Cemetery after the city passed a special ordinance allowing a cemetery within its limits. Over the decades the park expanded into a large 161-acre memorial park overlooking the Spokane River and Latah Creek. In 1962 the name was changed to Riverside Memorial Park, and in the mid-1970s it became part of the nonprofit Fairmount Memorial Association.
