Directions: Chester Community Cemetery is on the south side of I-90. Using Exit #289 (N Pines Rd/Hwy 27), continue about 1.5 miles on N Pines Rd. Turn right onto E 16 th Ave. Continue 0.5 miles and turn left onto S Bowdish Rd. Continue 1.8 miles and take slight left onto E Sands Rd. Continue 0.3 miles and road will turn right onto E 44 th Ave. Cemetery is on the left side.

Background: Chester Community Cemetery was established in 1901 in the rural Chester area of Spokane County after early settlers in the region set aside land for a community burial ground. The cemetery’s incorporation papers were filed in December 1901, and it was later re-incorporated as a nonprofit corporation in 1990. The grounds contain more than 50 marked graves and reflect over a century of local history, with burials ranging from the 1890s through at least 2018.
