Directions: Located in the north portion of Capitol Hill, in the City of Seattle, the cemetery sits along the west side of 15th Ave and the south side of Howe St.

Background: Lake View Cemetery is one of the Seattle's oldest and most historically significant burial grounds, established in 1872 as the Seattle Masonic Cemetery and renamed Lake View in 1890 for its scenic views over Lake Washington. Situated on about 40 acres just north of Volunteer Park, it became known as "Seattle's Pioneer Cemetery" as many of the city's earliest settlers, prominent families, and civic leaders were laid to rest there, including Princess Angeline (daughter of Chief Seattle), John W. Nordstrom (founder of the Nordstrom department store), poet Denise Levertov, and cultural icons Bruce Lee and his son Brandon Lee.
