Directions: Located in the Beacon Hill neighborhood of South Seattle, the cemetery sits along the north side of S Graham St, between 21st Ave and 23rd Ave.

Background: Comet Lodge Cemetery was established in 1895 by members of Comet Lodge No. 248 of the Independent Order of Odd Fellows, a fraternal organization active in the growing Lake City area of north Seattle. The lodge created the cemetery to serve local families at a time when the surrounding region was still largely rural farmland outside the city limits. Named after the lodge itself, the cemetery soon became a community burial place rather than one limited only to lodge members. Over the years it expanded to include family plots, veterans' graves, and later cremation niches as burial practices changed.
