Background: Fern Hill Cemetery has been in existence since the late nineteenth century as one of the region’s earliest organized burial grounds. The cemetery came under the care of the Aberdeen Cemetery Association, which has overseen its operations for more than a century. As the city expanded, Fern Hill became the resting place for many early settlers, loggers, mill workers, and prominent local families.
