Background: Vermont Veterans Memorial Cemetery was officially dedicated and opened in July 1993 after decades of advocacy that began in the late 1940s. The state acquired the Langevin farm property, located next to Vermont Technical College, in 1988 to establish the site. Encompassing about 100 acres, the cemetery was created to honor Vermont’s veterans and their families, providing burial plots at no cost to eligible veterans.
