Directions: Located north-west of Fargo, the cemetery sits along the north side of 40th Ave NW, between 93rd St. N and 81st St. N.

Background: Fargo National Cemetery is the second Rural Initiative cemetery in the nation, and the first to be built by the VA's National Cemetery Administration. The VA purchased the land in June 2016 and awarded a contract to build the cemetery in July 2017. The cemetery was dedicated on September 7, 2019. In December 2023, the VA purchased an additional 29 acres of land that expanded the entire footprint to 34 acres.
