Directions: Located south-west of Dixon, take Interstate 80 westbound, exit Midway Rd off-ramp, and head east for one mile. Entrance is on the south side of Midway Rd.
Background: Sacramento Valley National Cemetery, the seventh national cemetery established in California and the 124th in the national system, occupies land originally settled in the late 1860s under the Homestead Act. Used as farmland for over a century, the property—intersected by a historic stretch of the transcontinental railroad—was purchased by the National Cemetery Administration in 2004. The cemetery opened for burials in 2006 and was officially dedicated on April 22, 2007.
