Cemeteries in Dixon (City)

Solano County, California, United States
Dixon, located in eastern Solano County, was officially incorporated in 1878 but began as a settlement in the mid-19th century.

The area was originally inhabited by the Patwin people before becoming part of Rancho Los Putos, a Mexican land grant awarded in 1845. The arrival of Anglo-American settlers followed California’s annexation by the United States in 1848. The town was initially known as Silveyville, founded slightly west of present-day Dixon. When the Central Pacific Railroad bypassed Silveyville in the 1870s, the community relocated closer to the tracks and renamed itself Dixon, likely after Thomas Dixon, who donated land for the new depot. The city grew as an agricultural center, attracting settlers of German, Portuguese, and later Mexican descent. Today, it retains strong ties to farming and livestock.

Dixon’s residents have been served by cemeteries such as Silveyville Cemetery and Dixon Cemetery since the 19th century.
