Background: Park View Cemetery was founded in 1917 by Benjamin C. Wallace Sr. It was the first in San Joaquin County to introduce both a crematory and a mausoleum. The first burial took place in June 1917, and as the cemetery grew, the mausoleum was expanded in 1929, with additional crypts added in 1935 and 1949. Wallace, who began his career in the funeral industry in 1894 and later served as county coroner for eight years, brought extensive experience that helped establish Park View’s success. Park View is now operated by the fifth generation of the Wallace family.
