Background: Forest Lawn Cathedral City is part of the historic Forest Lawn Memorial-Parks & Mortuaries system with roots dating back over a century that popularized the landscaped "memorial park" concept. The cemetery site was originally established as the Palm Springs Mortuary & Mausoleum in the late 20th century to serve the rapidly growing Coachella Valley community. In 2005 Forest Lawn acquired and fully integrated it into its nationwide network, renaming it Forest Lawn Coachella Valley. It's primarily a mausoleum and columbarium complex with a tiny plot of land for in-ground interments.
