Background: Mountain View Cemetery was established in 1882 by Levi W. Giddings as a resting place following the sale of his friend’s land, with the first 24 burials moved in 1883. Sprawling across 60 acres, it remains one of Southern California’s oldest continuously operated, family-owned cemeteries. A landmark moment came in 1923 with the addition of the Mountain View Mausoleum, designed by architect Cecil E. Bryan.
