Cemeteries in Cana (Unincorporated area)

Butte County, California, United States
Cana is a small, unincorporated agricultural community in Butte County, California, located northwest of Chico.

Settled in the late 19th century, Cana developed as a rural farming and ranching area following the expansion of the railroad and agricultural industries in the region. Early residents were primarily European American settlers, including German and Italian immigrants, who established orchards, vineyards, and grain farms. Though it never incorporated, Cana served as a local hub with a schoolhouse and post office, which operated from the 1870s until the early 20th century.

Today, the Cana area remains sparsely populated and largely agricultural. Nearby cemeteries in Chico and surrounding communities preserve the legacy of Cana’s early families.
