Old Leavenworth Cemetery is located along the south side of Wyandotte Ave (Old Highway 62), along the south-east edge of town limits. There is a sign marking its location, but no parking area.

The cemetery was established in 1810 as the town's first burial ground. Most of the burials took place from 1816 to 1850. In 1846, the Leavenworth family created the "The New Leavenworth Cemetery" (now called Cedar Cemetery) in 1846. After 1850, no further burials took place at the Old Cemetery.

It's estimated there were as many as 30 Leavenworth family members buried here.

What makes us Different?

Single-sourced, not crowd-sourced

Each transcription we publish comes from a single-source, be it the cemetery office, government office, church office, archived document, a tombstone transcriber. Other websites already do an excellent job of crowd-sourcing a single cemetery together. But genealogists also need to see the original records from a single source. That's what we offer.
