"Death Finds a Way: A Janie Riley Mystery" is the debut novel by genealogist and author Lorine McGinnis Schulze.

The story follows genealogist and accidental detective Janie Riley, a middle-aged genealogist who has a habit of stumbling on to dead bodies. With her husband Steven, Janie heads to Salt Lake City Utah to track down her elusive fourth great-grandmother. But her search into the past leads her to more than she bargained for. Her discovery of a dark secret brings her closer to danger. Can she solve the mysteries of the past and the present, and untangle a web of lies before disaster strikes?

"This genealogical murder mystery is a great summer read! I couldn't put the book down, and can't wait for the next Janie Riley mystery. It has the perfect mix of a well written murder mystery, along with fascinating genealogical research techniques. Well done!!" (J. Tellers)

"As an avid reader of mystery novels, it is refreshing to find a new series with a unique protagonist, Janie Riley. As well as being treated to a good story, I learned a great deal about genealogy. Genealogists truly are master detectives. I'm looking forward to the next in the series." (Dill Books)

"Perfect summer read! Loved the characters and can't wait to see what happens in the next book!" (B. Huggins)

What makes us Different?

Single-sourced, not crowd-sourced

Each transcription we publish comes from a single-source, be it the cemetery office, government office, church office, archived document, a tombstone transcriber. Other websites already do an excellent job of crowd-sourcing a single cemetery together. But genealogists also need to see the original records from a single source. That's what we offer.
