Poor Farm Cemetery
Hacker Valley, Webster County, West Virginia

Lat: 38° 37' 11"N, Lon: 80° 22' 18"W

This cemetery is located off Rt. 20, at Hacker Valley. Turn on to the left fork of Hodam Creek, go approx. 1 mile, turn left and the cemetery is located approx 1/4 mile below road in woods.

This is the "poor farm" cemetery for the area. If someone knows of a family member that once lived here at least you can find the cemetery. Our county court house burned a few years back and records are hard to find. Although census records may give some clues.

This cemetery is not marked, or kept up. Just head stones from field rocks and sunken graves. No one is identified. From the rocks and sunken places scattered around, this looks like it has been a large cemetery.

Terry Fisher & I surveyed this cemetery in the summer of 2005.

What makes us Different?

Single-sourced, not crowd-sourced

Each transcription we publish comes from a single-source, be it the cemetery office, government office, church office, archived document, a tombstone transcriber. Other websites already do an excellent job of crowd-sourcing a single cemetery together. But genealogists also need to see the original records from a single source. That's what we offer.
