Total records = 15.
This cemetery is 5.5 mi NE of Walton on Johnson Creek Rd., on the
Mack Kelly farm.
It is in an area of two cedar trees, is overgrown and logging
road has been put in beside it, there are mounds of dirt piled
on what I am sure is part of this cemetery, could only find 9
stones and base of the only remaining headstone.
This cemetery was established c.1850 as a slave burial ground,
but later was used as a community burial ground by white people.
It is 1/4 acre in size, with no restrictions as to type and placing
of markers.
It is not fenced or not landscaped and the condition is poor,
the area is in use as pasture. Lots are not marked, graves marked
by monuments and field stones. The lots are not for sale, and
no burial records were kept. It is no longer in use as burial
ground, only stone dated 1854. Marked graves 1, unmarked graves,
27 or more.
I found this cemetery in October of 2007 and attempted
to photograph it again Jul 20, 2008. I then added info from WPA
reading of December 1928.
