Moles Cemetery
Artie, Raleigh County, Virginia

304-854-1048

Lat: 37° 55' 47"N, 81° 21' 37"W

Contributed by Quincy J. Burgess, Sep 08, 2004 [qburgess@hotmail.com] Total records = 60.

Driving on Rt. 1 from Beckley going towards Whitesville, WV. Distance is approximately 18 miles. Go past Log Church at Artie (White Oak), cross first bridge and then turn left before crossing second bridge. There are three houses on the left, follow dirt/gravel road past third house and up the hill, turn left, go straight, turn right and go straight. Cemetery is on the left, there is a Moles Cemetery Sign at entrance.

The road leading to the cemetery is rough, but is passable for 2-wheel drive vehicles as long as they do not set low to the ground. The cemetery with exception of the Burgess portion is in very bad condition with briars, vines, grass and weeds overtaking most of the area. If you do visit, please watch for snakes and bring bug spray.

I walked and read this cemetery on Sep 05, 2004. It includes all existing and legible stones or markers.

What makes us Different?

Single-sourced, not crowd-sourced

Each transcription we publish comes from a single-source, be it the cemetery office, government office, church office, archived document, a tombstone transcriber. Other websites already do an excellent job of crowd-sourcing a single cemetery together. But genealogists also need to see the original records from a single source. That's what we offer.
