Watts Cemetery
Lincoln County, West Virginia

Submitted by Lisa L. Luther, Feb 22, 2005 [charleywest@hotmail.com] Total records = 65.

From the Sod Post Office take Timberwolf Trail. Follow this road as far as possible up the mountain until there is a house with a deck to your right, and a gray house to your left. Just after the gray house you will see a gated rocky dirt road entrance to a trail. The entrance has a very low gate across it with a "Posted" sign to the left. To get to Watts Cemetery just step over the gate and walk the trail. The trail is usually not overgrown and is very well kept.

The walk is not as far as it seems, and the cemetery is easy to spot. It is on a beautiful grassy mound. The residents of the gray house just before the gated entrance own the property so be sure to check with them before crossing the gate. Sign on main gate reads: "Watts Cemetery 1879"

The inscriptions listed here are abbreviated versions of the actual text on the headstones. All military markers will be noted with at end of entry.

I walked and read this cemetery in Sept of 2004.

What makes us Different?

Single-sourced, not crowd-sourced

Each transcription we publish comes from a single-source, be it the cemetery office, government office, church office, archived document, a tombstone transcriber. Other websites already do an excellent job of crowd-sourcing a single cemetery together. But genealogists also need to see the original records from a single source. That's what we offer.
