Smith Cemetery
Lincoln County, West Virginia

Submitted by Lisa L. Luther, Feb 22, 2005 [charleywest@hotmail.com] Total records = 14.

From Eden Baptist Church in Griffithsville, take Sugar Tree Road beside the church. Follow the road until you can branch off to the right onto Sycamore. Follow Sycamore until you can make a right onto Big Laurel Creek Road. Follow Big Laurel to the very end. There will be a stop sign and you have to choose left or right. Go left and then make an immediate left into what looks like a driveway. It will go up a hill (which is quite rough at times). Smith cemetery is at the top of the hill.

The inscriptions listed here are abbreviated versions of the actual text on the headstones. Notes at the bottom are either my own or those from the last transcription done by Lucy Bell in the late 1990's. All military markers will be noted with at end of entry. If I have estimated a birth date then I will denote it with cDOB (calculated date of birth).

I walked and read this cemetery in December of 2004.

What makes us Different?

Single-sourced, not crowd-sourced

Each transcription we publish comes from a single-source, be it the cemetery office, government office, church office, archived document, a tombstone transcriber. Other websites already do an excellent job of crowd-sourcing a single cemetery together. But genealogists also need to see the original records from a single source. That's what we offer.
