Ronk Cemetery
Lincoln County, West Virginia

Lat: 38° 16' 29"N, Lon: 81° 48' 58"W, approx

Directions: From the parking lot of Bob's Fas Check in Alum Creek, make a right onto 214. Almost immediately, make a left onto Whispering Pines Lake Road (most people around here know this road as Molly's Branch). Just follow Whispering Pines Road to the very end where you will see Whispering Pines Lake fishing area. You can park in the lot there. The cemetery is on top of a mountain behind the lake so be prepared to walk through briars and very steep areas.

Bub Anderson owns Whispering Pines Lake and he can give more exact directions, he is usually available inside the snack bar.

I did not find out who owns this cemetery. It appears to be a family cemetery, only used in the early 1900s. It is not well maintained and might be considered abandoned. It is not being used.

The inscriptions listed here are abbreviated versions of the actual text on the headstones. There were about 13 or so graves with nothing more than a rock with no etchings for a marker. All military markers will be noted with at end of each entry. This list is alphabetized and includes no epitaphs. If I have estimated a birth date then I will denote it with cDOB (calculated date of birth).

I walked and read this cemetery in January of 2005.

What makes us Different?

Single-sourced, not crowd-sourced

Each transcription we publish comes from a single-source, be it the cemetery office, government office, church office, archived document, a tombstone transcriber. Other websites already do an excellent job of crowd-sourcing a single cemetery together. But genealogists also need to see the original records from a single source. That's what we offer.
