This cemetery was first established in 1850 on land deeded by John Dixon. It was first called called Dixon or East Side Cemetery. By 1851 it was being operated by the Brookfield Cemetery Association. Then the name was changed to Pioneer in 1854.

The sign at the cemetery says "Pioneer Cemetery of Brookfield Burial Place of Yankee and English Settlers."

At this time the care and maintenance is taken care of by the Citizens of Brookfield. It is no longer being used for burials.

Michael Bradshaw and I transcribed this cemetery in August of 2004. This contains all visible burials.

    cemetery records

A free online library of cemetery records from thousands of cemeteries across the world, for historical and genealogy research.

    Clear Digital Media, Inc.

    What makes us Different?

    Single-sourced, not crowd-sourced

Each transcription we publish comes from a single-source, be it the cemetery office, government office, church office, archived document, a tombstone transcriber. Other websites already do an excellent job of crowd-sourcing a single cemetery together. But genealogists also need to see the original records from a single source. That's what we offer.
