Saint Wenceslaus Cemetery
Waterloo, Jefferson County, Wisconsin

Lat: 43° 09' 40"N, 88° 55' 20"W
Waterloo Twp, Sec 14

Contributed by Raymond L Ford, Nov 08, 2003 [endeavor3818@aol.com]. Total records = 63.

The cemetery is located on Island Church Rd & Blue Joint Rd, which is about three miles southeast of Waterloo WI.

This cemetery began about 1865 and is also known as the Island Cemetery. The name Island Church began because it stands on a hill which overlooks a marshland. It is owned and maintained by the Saint Wenceslaus Church which was constructed in 1863 of hand-hewn logs, covered in board and batten, and featured a simple bell tower. The last church service was in 1891.

This small Catholic church cemetery is not used often, although there is a burial as recent as 2001, but is appears rather inactive at the present time.

I conducted a walk through in Jun 2002 and have photos available of the tomb stones.

    What makes us Different?

    Single-sourced, not crowd-sourced

Each transcription we publish comes from a single-source, be it the cemetery office, government office, church office, archived document, a tombstone transcriber. Other websites already do an excellent job of crowd-sourcing a single cemetery together. But genealogists also need to see the original records from a single source. That's what we offer.
