Hardscrabble Cemetery
Sullivan Twp, Jefferson County, Wisconsin

W.Water St. & Vista Road

T6N R16E Sec 25NW
Lat: 42°57'29"N, Lon: 88°41'48"W

Contributed by Sandra Wellman, Sep 01, 2002 [sudsy@compufort.com]. Total records = 53.

Plaque erected by Hardscabble Cemetery Asso. In 1990 says "Established 1843. "In memory of the forgotten Pioneers who lie in unmarked graves."

This cemetery is kept up now, but has many unmarked graves. A pile of gravestones around one tree attests to the fact that someone has played havoc on this old graveyard in the past.

I read the stones on this pile that I could make out and did not move any for fear of breaking any because it is obvious, by the care being taken now, that these will be replaced in the near future if they are readable.

Transcribed by Sandra L. Wellman & Brian K. Larson 8/31/2002.

    What makes us Different?

    Single-sourced, not crowd-sourced

Each transcription we publish comes from a single-source, be it the cemetery office, government office, church office, archived document, a tombstone transcriber. Other websites already do an excellent job of crowd-sourcing a single cemetery together. But genealogists also need to see the original records from a single source. That's what we offer.
