To reach this cemetery drive west out of Kettle Falls, watching for the Saint Paul Mission sign, which will be on your right. It is very close to the Columbia River when you turn. You will pass an Historical Center, as you continue on for about a mile further toward the river.

This is the old mission of Fort Colville, of the Hudson Bay Company. Historical markers have been placed along the bank of the river, telling the history of the area. There remains this one old building which has a cross on the peak of the roof which you will come to first. We were told it was reroofed some years back, answering Vicki's question as to why we saw no chimney.

The cemetery is on toward the river past the building. A fence is around the cemetery with a sign explaining that the larger area behind has unknown burials, which are bordered by a trench. Thirteen of these unknown burials came from the Mary Barnard cemetery T38 R38E Sec 26, in Ferry County. They were removed before the rising water of the Columbia River about 1940. We found only three markers in the fenced enclosure and only one that is readable.

Vicki Morris and I visited this cemetery on Aug 14, 2000. An additional obit was found and provided to me by Ruby Bartelds, which is designated with an * asterisk, for which there is no stone or marker.
