To reach the cemetery from I-90 heading east from Spokane, take the Sullivan Exit and continue south for several miles to Saltese Road where you turn left or east. This is also 32nd Ave and it changes as you curve the 1.5 miles to the cemetery which is on the right or south side of 32nd Ave.

The name Saltese is probably a variant spelling of an Indian name, sometimes spelled "Seltice". The cemetery was dedicated Jan. 26, 1917 and is run by a Cemetery Association, which maintains it. Families see that the burial sites are kept cleaned out. Periodically a work meeting is planned to maintain the other tasks.

In this last year a new section has been fenced in and will provide more burial spaces as they are needed. There is still some room left in the main area which appears to be unused, but some places are without markers and unknown, making it impossible to bury unless replatted. Others contain sold lots which have not been used yet. This is due to poor records at the beginning of the cemetery, and also loss of records due to fire.

These listings were attained by walking the cemetery and copying the stones which are still in existence. It is thought there could be many unmarked graves. I found the cemetery to be in excellent condition and maintained, although it does not have perpetual care. I revisited the cemetery on May 29 and Jun 02, 2004, using my digital camera. I am willing to share any photo I have.
