Cemetery History

This cemetery is owned and maintained by the city of Sumner WA. It is very well maintained and in excellent condition. One may enter on the Valley Ave E side or it can also be accessed by the side gate on 124th Ct E.

This cemetery is made up of two sections and a mausoleum. The one is the older section which began about 1864. There was a need to expand so in 1947 a new larger section was dedicated. The two sections are across the street from each other.

As you enter at the front there is a plaque which reads: Veterans of Foreign Wars of the United States. In memory of the men and women who served there county in the armed forces. Behind the plaque stands the US and POW flag. This was erected by The Sumner Victory Post # 3070 VFW 1947.

    What makes us Different?

    Single-sourced, not crowd-sourced

Each transcription we publish comes from a single-source, be it the cemetery office, government office, church office, archived document, a tombstone transcriber. Other websites already do an excellent job of crowd-sourcing a single cemetery together. But genealogists also need to see the original records from a single source. That's what we offer.
