[mrail@asisna.com]. Total
records = 6.
To reach this cemetery travel east from Tonasket on Hwy 20 to the Aeneas
Valley road where you turn right and continue for about 10 miles. Turn
left or north onto Eagle Rock Road. You pass by the Sprague Farm, and
it is on a bench in between two farms. You begin to think you will not
find it, even though you can see it at times driving in. There is no cemetery
sign.
This was the cemetery for the Chief Joe Aeneas family, but now the
land which is around the cemetery is owned by someone else. It has a
fence around it, and sits out there alone. It was on allotment land
but now it is separate.
I tried to count the crosses, and estimate there are more that two
dozen buried here. With so many missing or broken crosses, one really
cannot easily tell the number.
The names listed were provided by August Snyder & Rhonda Horn several
years ago to Violet Utt and Opal Willms when they read this cemetery.
I found no names written on any markers when I was there. Some crosses
are painted white and look nice, others have started to deteriorate.
At one time it was probably very well taken care of.
There is another Unknown burial spot about a half mile west of this
one, on the southeast side of Catherine Cecil Lake. I did not visit
it, but the coordinates are: Lat: 48° 34' 26"N, Lon: 119° 03' 40"W
I visited and surveyed this burial site Aug 16, 2003. If anyone has
information about more names of who is buried here, or corrections,
please contact me.
